Huntingdonshire Family History Society (HFHS) was founded in 1985 to help people to find out about their family history. The county reorganisation in 1974 saw Huntingdonshire become part of a greater Cambridgeshire. We now have a membership of over 350, the majority of whom live outside the old county.

Our brand new building brings together all of Huntingdonshire's written historical resources under one roof, including medieval charters, modern maps, printed books, parish registers and Victorian photographs.

Godmanchester and Huntingdon are twinned with Wertheim in Germany, Salon de Provence in France and Szentendre in Hungary. HGTA has also recently established a friendship link with the Italian town of Gubbio.

This site is now being extended to cover all men and women that served in the Armed services and that live in Ramsey, Huntingdonshire or the surrounding villages bearing that name. The project is still being researched and any help anyone can provide, in order that these men and women can be remembered, would be greatly appreciated.

The Huntingdonshire History Festival is a month long programme of events that takes place each July, including talks, tours, family activities, exhibitions, historical re-enactments and concerts that celebrate the story of Huntingdonshire. Events last year take place in Huntingdon, St Neots, Ramsey and St Ives, and are mostly free of charge thanks to generous support from a number of funders, including the A14 Fund, the Huntingdon Freemen’s Trust and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
