veraAs previously advertised, The Porch Museum has offered its latest film, "MY GODMANCHESTER LIFE FROM 1916" about Vera Arnold, to St Mary's Church for a celebration occasion to be held in St Mary's Church on Saturday 22 September 2012 at 7.30pm.

Vera is from a Godmanchester family who have lived in the town for generations and her life spans extraordinary change. She will be the guest of honour. Her account of time as a house parlour maid at Offord Hill House, is enchanting and very much from another time. The film is full of rare pictures of old Godmanchester taken from private collections many of which have not been seen before. On the same evening, local historian Ken Sneath will give a talk on "The Churches of Godmanchester".

There will be refreshments and a raffle. The evening will be in aid of the Raise the Roof Church Restoration Fund. Tickets will be £10 each to include delicious food and one free drink and the seats will be numbered.

Because it is in the church there should be plenty of room.
